Handcuffed woman drives away with police car (which you’re not supposed to do)

Early Tuesday morning, Union City Police showed up to a Walmart to arrest some people suspected of credit card fraud. One of those suspects was Atlantaresident Jenny Clementi. She was handcuffed, with her arms behind her, and put in the back of a patrol car. WXIA 11 Alive News reports it was then that Ms. Clementi managed to get her hands (still cuffed) in front of her, climb through a small opening, and then speed off with the police officer’s car.

It’d be impressive if it wasn’t reckless, dangerous, and a crime. WXIA showed just how small a space she had to squeeze through to get up front.

My Fox Atlanta says that Clementi drove north on Interstate 85, but then crashed into a car. Union City Police officer Chris Murphy told WXIA, “…the police vehicle rolled to a stop, she jumped out of the vehicle, fled into the woods on foot.” At the time of publication of this Odd News post, she was still at large.

WGCL CBS Atlanta points out this isn’t the first time Jenny has been in trouble with Johnny Law, according to jail records, she was arrested by Atlanta police and charged with criminal trespassing as far back as…September.

As for Union City Police, My Fox Atlanta says they were told the department has “…changed their procedures of how they handle suspects, as well as the locking mechanisms on the patrol cars.” They also ask if you have any information as to Ms. Clementi’s whereabouts, you call their Crime Stoppers hotline, 404-577-TIPS.
